Roskilde University is a Danish public university founded in 1972 and located in Trekroner in the Eastern part of Roskilde. The university awards bachelor, master’s degrees and Ph.D. degrees in a wide variety of subjects. The most important task of Roskilde University is to contribute to experimental, innovative forms of learning and knowledge creation. The university is research-driven and provides education for future generations of managers, teachers and experts based on advanced knowledge. RUC is characterised by:

The university is a leader in interdisciplinary models of education. The University’s Department of Social Sciences and Business (ISE) specialises in interdisciplinary research and teaching within the areas of international development, public administration, social sciences, global studies and international studies. Its research focuses on societal changes and the impact of such developments and changes on the modes of function of different societies around the world. Research is based on solid empirical knowledge in combination with relevant social science theories. Teaching is closely related to research activities and is characterised by its multidisciplinary nature. The Doctoral School of ISE is part of a large and dynamic community of researchers who share a commitment to understanding society in diverse contexts of change and global engagement. Our interdisciplinary research perspectives are primarily based on the social sciences. Researchers come from all over the world and engage topics that are geographically, theoretically and methodologically diverse, many with great relevance to the EU’s evolving role as a global actor.
