The British Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House)
The British Institute of International Affairs (today’s Chatham House) was founded on 5 July 1920 in London. Its founder, Lionel Curtis, had delivered a brainstorming speech to the British and American delegates at the Paris Peace Conference championing the idea ‘for an organization whose purpose would be to foster mutual understanding of and between nations through debate, dialogue and independent analysis’ (Chatham House, 2020).
